Ni-CO2_CALIX - Ni-catalyzed carboxylations enabled by the calixarene scaffold

PRIN [2022-2025]

Abstract

Our team aims to develop novel nickel-catalyzed transformations using carbon-dioxide. The modular calix[n]arene scaffold will represent the linchpin to achieve our targets. In this 48 months project, our goal will be the development of novel nickel-catalyzed C-H carboxylations for the synthesis of novel, inherently chiral calix[4]arene macrocycles for the enantioselective recognition of biologically relevant amines (Figure 1, a). Furthermore, the three-dimensional features of calix[4]arenes will be employed for the synthesis of novel supramolecular ligands to control the chemo- and regioselectivity of nickel-catalyzed carboxylations of unsaturated alcohols (Figure 1, b).
