Abstract
The target of the ENLIGHTENING project is the design and development of a new class of fully organic materials for the visible light-induced degradation of hazardous chemicals in aqueous environment. The functionalization of a supporting polymeric material with suitable chromophores will enable oxidation or reduction processes on pollutant substrates – such as herbicides, pesticides and organic emerging contaminants – by taking advantage of the dyes' photoreactivity.
